FAQs

Considering taxidermy, the answer you need may only be a click away...
  • Can I purchase native Australian mounts?

Before you are able to  purchase any native Australian wildlife specimen, we advise that you should first check with your State or Territorial Wildlife Authority. The laws vary from state to state and the purchase or sale requirements  will vary.

Australian Federal Wildlife Laws prohibit the export from Australia of mounted native wildlife for private purposes. International laws such as CITES also regulate the trade internationally.

However, under certain circumstances, we are able to export to recognised scientific or educational institutions.

  • Do you buy stuffed animals and birds?

Yes we do, depending on what the specimen may be, condition, and of course- price.

We are always interested in old cases of stuffed birds.

  • Do you teach taxidermy?

Our current work commitments do not allow us to run any classes in taxidermy.

  • I found a dead bird, can I have it mounted?

That will depend upon whether the species is a native of Australia, or an introduced species. It will also depend on which state you live in.

lf it's a native species, you may require a permit from your State or Territorial Wildlife Authority before it can be mounted. Check with your local Wildlife Department office. If it's an introduced species to Australia, you will not require any permit.

  • What do I need to do to ship my trophies home?

For any person hunting abroad for international game, there are two departments that must be satisfied in order to successfully import your trophies.

    They are:

Department of Environment and Energy  and

    Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service.

Department of Environment and Energy  is the principle management authority which regulates the importation of those species of animals scheduled as CITES listed species.

Some examples of these species include the bears, cats, wolves and wolverines and species of antelopes such as the Lechewe, Addax, Schimitar Oryx and Blue Duiker, as well as some Zebra species and sheep such as Barbary or Auodad sheep.

No CITES listed game species can be imported into Australia without either an export approval from country of origin, and an import approval from Department of Environment and Energy .

For a full listing of species, you should refer to the current and complete list of CITES species. lf it's not a CITES listed species, you may have to produce proof of legal acquisition such as hunt licences and/or hunt tags from the country of origin.

AQIS is the regulatory authority charged with the responsibility for the safe importation of all forms of primary products such as flowers and fruits, fish, dairy products, woods and grains, as well as biological material such as raw skins, hides, feathers, bones, horns and antlers.

Before a trophy hunter may import any such material, AQIS must be satisfied that the imported material does not pose a biological threat to the general community. Most items can be treated using available specified quarantine treatment procedures.

If you are unsure of this requirement contact AQIS.
